Wed 14 May - Wed 4 June 2025

6.30pm - 8.30pm

  • Are you feeling overwhelmed by the events that are unfolding linked to being Jewish ?

  • Is it hard to find space to talk through the complexities of this moment?

We are offering a space to have meaningful dialogue with others across 4 weeks.

Join us for 4 weekly sessions.

Angels of History is returning with a series of four online sessions designed to help you engage in courageous conversations about what it means to be Jewish today.

Across the series, the same group will gather online to discuss, reflect, learn, and openly share about contemporary Jewish identity and collective experiences.

Session Dates

Wednesday 14th May - Wednesday 4th June 2025

Sessions run weekly on Wednesdays from 6.30pm to 8.30pm for 4 weeks.

What will we do?
Guided by professional facilitators, this series fosters connection, deep listening, empathy, and compassionate communication. Together, we'll thoughtfully explore challenging topics such as the current war in Israel/Palestine and antisemitism, cultivating an environment of understanding and respect.

Each session centres around a theme which will connect across the series. You'll come away equipped with fresh perspectives and new ways to engage in courageous conversations with those around you. We also have an emphasis on Jewish joy and see this as an essential way to approach complexity. Our aim is to build our sense of Jewishness - whatever that is for you and feel enlivened and able to move through the world with more awareness.

Who are the facilitators?
Sessions are led by Alex Eisenberg, Daniel Eisenberg and Lea Misan. They have been collectively developing and facilitating groups for many years and offer experience and guidance for the group.

“I joined Angles for the opportunity for in depth exploration with a cross section of Jewish people of what we have been going through especially over the last 14 months.  I wasn't expecting it to be as therapeutic as it is; I found that helpful.”

What does it mean to be Jewish now?

Being Jewish at this moment presents challenges and complexity. Conversations about our Jewishness especially post Oct 7th and in relation to antisemitism, Israel, Palestine and Zionism can be hard to have and are often polarised. There can be rifts in families and difficult conversations between partners and friends. Often there is silence too in workplaces and organisations which compounds feelings of isolation. There is a tendency not to put the difficult issues on the table.

We have heard from many of you that you need space to reflect, connect and look towards a better future together as Jews and people with Jewish ancestry. We invite you to join us in a series of autumn sessions to plant seeds of dialogue.

“Angels of History allowed me to connect deeply with my own Judaism and that of others whose experience was very different to my own. I delighted in attending this group and I relished the opportunity to heal in a community and I have been changed (in a good way!) as a consequence of my participation”

What will we do together?

Sharing and listening - We will gather together and hear each other’s personal stories and reflections in an open and non-judgmental way supported by experienced facilitators.

Exercises and tools - We also will offer simple tools and use creative methods to support you to have better conversations and feel more confident in your interactions with others when it comes to how you express your Jewishness.

How many people will attend?

Each cohort is between 6-8 people and we really encourage you to join for the whole block as this is important for the cohesion and growth of the group.

How long is each session?

Each session is 2 hours with at least one break. There will be a mix of time for sharing and for listening to each other in both the full group and smaller breakouts.

Who is this for?

We welcome people with the full diversity of Jewish backgrounds and identities. We also welcome people to self-select as Jews or those with Jewish ancestry.

We run our groups with an awareness of the different histories of Askenazi and Sephardi Jews and have lived experience of both groups in the team.

It is critical to our work that we create a safe space for different Jewish perspectives to be expressed and heard. We want our sessions to be spaces where people can communicate courageously from different perspectives.

  • We welcome people from across the political and religious spectrum and are keen to bring a range of views and perspectives into our sessions.

  • We have a zero tolerance policy towards language that is dehumanising, racist, violent or oppressive. As part of our work together we will support a shared understanding of what this means.

What sorts of things  might we discuss?

Some of the themes that often arise in our sessions include questions around Jewish identity, antisemitism, Israel, Palestine, diaspora Judaism, polarisation, family tensions, and more. While our sessions are shaped by particular themes, we also leave space for whatever needs to emerge in the moment—especially in relation to your own sense of being Jewish right now. People are often surprised by what surfaces, and we see this openness as a powerful pathway for learning and growth.

Some questions that have come up in previous sessions are:

  • How do I navigate when my parents or grandparents have fundamentally different views on Israel than I do?

  • How do experiences of antisemitism shape our collective emotional responses to our identity?

  • What does collective healing look like in the context of ongoing conflict?

  • How can I honour my family's connection to Israel while developing my own relationship to it?

  • What does belonging look like when I feel both connected to and distant from mainstream Jewish institutions?

  • What strategies help when family gatherings become tense around discussions of Jewish identity or Israel?

  • What practices help manage the anxiety that often accompanies hard conversations?

  • What language helps discuss complex topics without increasing polarisation?

  • How do we maintain hope while still acknowledging painful realities?

  • What visions for the future emerge from the diverse experiences in our community?
